The Hawthorn Football Club has unveiled its special one-off Guernsey for the inaugural Kokoda Game against the Sydney Swans at the MCG on  May 30. Proceeds from the sale of the autographed Guernseys and other fundraising activities on the day will go the Foundation's Adopt an Angel Scholarship Scheme.

KTF Chairman, Patrick Lindsay, welcomed the Hawks’ commitment to its annual Kokoda Match.

“We’re delighted at the way the Hawthorn club has embraced the spirit of Kokoda – in word and deed,” Lindsay says. “The Foundation is proud to partner with Hawthorn to work to improve the lives of the people living along the Track. Not only has Hawthorn integrated the spirit into its club culture, it’s now working to give something back to the descendants of the beloved Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels by raising funds for the Kokoda Track Foundation, to be used to help educate the kids living along the Track.

“All funds raised through the annual Kokoda Match will go towards the Foundation’s “Adopt An Angel” program, which provides scholarships and school resources for the children living in the Kokoda catchment area. We know that Hawthorn has drawn inspiration from the Kokoda story, from the challenge of walking the Track in the footsteps of the Diggers and the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels and from meeting the people of the Track,” Lindsay added. “The Foundation will make sure every dollar raised is used to make a difference to the lives and the futures of our nearest neighbours.”
