Working across more areas

In 2009 the Kokoda Track Foundation expanded the number of communities, schools, and health centres that it works in. We now work in communities throughout the catchment area from as far north as Buna to as far south as Port Moresby. As you can see in the map, we now run our Fuzzy Wuzzy Angel Scholarship Program and our School Resource Program in 23 communities throughout this catchment area.

We also expanded into a number of different regions in the Oro Province after Cyclone Guba devastated communities in 2007. Our three mother seed nurseries are located at Ilimo, Martyrs, and Dobodura villages and in 2009 our team set up 29 satellite nurseries in other communities throughout the Province.

We believe in continually seeing how we can use our resources in the most efficient and effective way and always conduct in depth community consultations before moving into a new area or running a new program. In 2010 we have identified a number of additional communities that are seeking assistance from the Foundation and we will continue to expand our programs to new areas throughout PNG.
